Meet Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Claiborne

Dr. Claiborne is one of the few plastic surgeons in Louisiana with additional aesthetic surgery fellowship training endorsed by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery specializing in surgery of the breast and body and mommy makeovers. His dedication to excellence has been recognized by his peers and patients, as he has been awarded the Castle Connolly Top Doctors Award and has been featured as a Top Doctor in Louisiana Life Magazine and New Orleans Magazine. His rigorous training background with internationally renowned surgeons and impressive research resume are testimony to his commitment to combine cutting edge innovation with proven techniques. Dr. Claiborne has been an invited speaker at regional, national, and international meetings and published over a dozen manuscripts in journals and textbooks to share his approach to optimizing surgical outcomes on breast surgery, mommy makeovers, tummy tucks and liposuction.
Dr. Claiborne left his hometown of New Orleans to attend the University of Virginia for college. At Virginia, his success earned him selection into the prestigious Echols Scholar program as well as an academic scholarship. After he graduated in the top 1% of his class with an interdisciplinary major in biology, chemistry and ecology, he returned to New Orleans for medical school at LSU and was awarded two academic scholarships. He graduated medical school at the top of his class, earning him the Norma C. Ragland Academic Achievement Award as well as selection into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During medical school, Dr. Claiborne conducted basic science and clinical research on breast reconstruction and skin disorders, and he presented his research as a medical student at the American College of Surgeons Louisiana annual meeting.
After medical school, Dr. Claiborne was selected into the prestigious plastic surgery residency program at Wake Forest in North Carolina, one the most respected training programs in the world. At Wake Forest, he trained with leaders in plastic surgery and medical innovation. As a resident, his dedication to improving plastic surgery techniques persisted, and he published and presented over 30 plastic surgery research projects. His innovative work was recognized by the North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons, who honored him with the Nicholas Georgiade Award for the best resident research project.
After completing six years of plastic surgery training, the internationally-recognized Wall Center for Plastic Surgery selected Dr. Claiborne from an elite pool of applicants from around the world for their aesthetic surgery fellowship. The Wall Center for Plastic Surgery Aesthetic Fellowship is highly competitive and is one of only a few cosmetic surgery fellowships in the world endorsed by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. During the fellowship, Dr. Claiborne refined his surgical technique working within a busy practice performing over 1000 cases per year focusing on breast surgery, body contouring and mommy makeovers. Spending a year working with one of the world’s experts in breast and body contouring has allowed Dr. Claiborne to offer the most effective and safest techniques to his patients.
After residency and advanced fellowship training, Dr. Claiborne was recruited to Nashville to join a busy aesthetic surgery practice. In 2019, after two years in Nashville, Dr. Claiborne and his wife decided to move back to Louisiana to be closer to his family and join Northshore Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Claiborne is a board-certified plastic surgeon by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and has also been board-certified as a wound healing specialist by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM). He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Claiborne's passions include using his plastic surgery skills in underserved areas of the world as part of medical mission trips. He has traveled to Africa, Eastern Europe, and Central America to provide free medical care in developing countries. At home, he enjoys spending time on the Gulf Coast with his wife and son, Morgan and Reid, and their Goldendoodle, Stella.
