BRAS AFTER BREAST AUGMENTATION
One of the most exciting things for many women can be shopping for bras after having breast augmentation. Whether you’ve had Breast Augmentation with implants, Breast Lift, Breast Reduction or perhaps having your implants removed it’s good to know a few simple factors before treating yourself.
Most patients can’t wait to go snatch up something from Victoria’s Secret. Shopping for bras immediately following surgery won’t be quite as fun just yet. For the first few months after your surgery, you’ll want to be a little more practical. We have a few guidelines that will help you out.
The importance of the post-op bra will provide comfort to our patients by giving support to minimize swelling and hold the implants into place. This bra should be fitted and not loose. Typically, this will be what you wear for the first week following surgery until your first post-op appointment. We provide this bra to you and you will be sent home wearing this from the surgical center.
Supportive Sports Bra
When you come to Northshore Plastic Surgery for your one week post-op appointment we suggest turning to something a little more comfortable such as a supportive sports bra. This change is usually welcomed by patient’s when they are looking forward to returning to daily activities. There are a variety of different brands and styles. We encourage finding one that provides you with comfort and support and does not contain any underwire.
At last! Calling this the “YES” bra seems fitting due to the patient’s reaction when you’re released to go purchased new bras and get fitted. Between the 2 to 3-month mark following surgery is when most of your post-op swelling has subsided and you are safe to be measured. Now that the dullness of wearing sports bras is gone, it’s time to have some fun and splurge.
We look forward to your experience at Northshore Plastic Surgery and want our patients to be well prepared for surgery.
